Industrial minerals explorer Heavy Minerals (ASX:HVY) has recently completed a light detection and ranging (LiDAR) airborne survey at its Port Gregory and Red Hill projects in Western Australia. 

The company reports the data has been received and processed and has been combined into its resource models. 

Future resource model announcements will include the RTK survey enhanced imagery. Heavy Minerals notes the models will be updated and announced when further mineralogy assay data is received. 

Commenting on the completed survey, Heavy Minerals Non-Executive Chairman Adam Schofield says: “The company is pleased to have completed the airborne LiDAR and RTK surveys at both Port Gregory and Red Hill.

The LiDAR survey was conducted by a small plane flying over the project areas at an altitude of 1,000ft. The purpose of these surveys is to create detailed digital terrain models of the land. 

Data can be used to assess sand volumes within the resource area, detail the potential mine area, show the location of calcrete outcrops, and show exact slope information and locations of fence lines and buildings. 

At Port Gregory, the survey covered 2,575 hectares. Meanwhile, at Red Hill, the survey covered 755 hectares. 

According to its latest quarterly report, Heavy Minerals had just under $900,000 in cash on hand at the end of March.
